Our ‘When I Dare To Be Powerful’ online talk today iwith @komsomol.films - feminist filmmaker Irene Lustig @boningtongallery . Irene’s films include ‘YOURS IN SISTERHOOD’ (2018) and ‘Richland’ (2023) which is her latest international release. ‘Richland’ is about a town in Washington State built for workers who produced plutonium used in the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki. Irene’s directorial style continues to shine through as she uncritically surfaces the town’s conflicting voices. Please do join us. For our final #widtbp2023 online talk in the series. Only two days before our 'When I Dare To Be Powerful' international conference. We have two keynote speakers. Academic and campaigner Professor Rabab Abdulhadi analyses the effectiveness of Audre Lorde's ‘masters tools’ in bringing change. Filmmaker and activist Mania Akbari explores the geo-politics of feminism. We have a range of panellists, with talks ranging from 'Voice in Artistic Practice' to 'Disembodied Voices in Dissent'. 'Voice' is the theme of our conference and we're looking forward to it being in-person.
